Therapeutic Preschool For Your Child

Blue Bird Day’s therapeutic preschool fosters socialization, sensory regulations and academic learning in children 2-5 years of age. It is designed for children with Autism (ASD), sensory processing disorder (SPD), Down Syndrome, ADHD, stuttering, articulation and phonological disorders and sensory based feeding disorders.

Therapeutic Preschool Rotation Schedule

  • Arrival Transition

    Lead by DT and BT

    Evidence Based Intervention: Intentional Relationship Model, Theories of Development

    Goal: Transition fluidly into program environment with a focus on practical living skills to prepare for therapeutic rotations

  • Occupational Therapy

    Lead by OT

    Evidence Based Intervention: Sensory Integration, DIR Floortime, Intentional Relationship Model

    Goal: To support modulation necessary for seated therapeutic rotation

  • Speech Therapy

    Lead by SLP

    Evidence Based Intervention: Zoo Phonics, PROMPT

    Goal: To support phonetic awareness and communication skills necessary for literacy proficiency

  • Developmental / Behavioral Therapy

    Lead by DT and BT

    Evidence Based Intervention: Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Intentional Relationship Model

    Goal: To support developmentally appropriate concepts necessary for academic success

  • Physical Therapy

    Lead by PT

    Evidence Based Intervention: Sensory Integration, Musculoskeletal

    Goal: To support gross motor development and modulation necessary for seated academic work

  • Snack & Lunch

    Lead by DT and BT

    Broken into three groups: Little Nibblers, Sensory Explorers, Sensory Movers

    Evidence Based Approach: Sequential Oral Sensory Approach to Feeding

    Goal: To support feeding independence and engage in new food exploration in a safe setting

  • Circle Time

    Lead by DT and BT

    Evidence Based Intervention: Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Intentional Relationship Model

    Goal: To support school readiness skills such as number recognition and counting, attention and following directions, and social skills necessary for large group learning

  • Floortime Group in Sensorimotor Gym

    Lead by DT and BT

    Evidence Based Intervention: DIR Floortime, Intentional Relationship Model, Sensory Integration

    Goal: To support social emotional development necessary for building positive relationships

  • Lunchtime Enrichment

    Lead by OT, SLP, BT or DT based on child’s therapeutic need

    Evidence Based Intervention: Sensory Integration, Intentional Relationship Model, Applied Behavioral Analysis, Oral Motor Strengthening

    Goal: To participate in lunchtime and feeding routines in a group setting

  • Departure

    Evidence Based Intervention: Intentional Relationship Model

    Goal: Transition fluidly from the program environment to families in the waiting room
